SCaled Lighting Model

Student Work

Fall 2020

Many building systems do not perform the same when they are scaled down– however lighting is unique in that it does. In this assignment, our task was to create a lighting scheme for an office meeting room. With a group, we created a model at 1”=1’-0” and adjusted down lights so that our “luminaires” (cut out slots in the foam core board) illuminated the space to our desire.

The layout decided upon wall washes both sides of the room, to add depth and interest. The table lighting consists of a cove that provides a primary, direct source of lighting in addition to indirect lighting on all four sides of the cove. This adds an even and diffuse effect throughout the room while also maintaining the necessary illuminance ratio between the table and the room.
