Live/work building

context

Today, a live/work model has taken on a whole new meaning– the percentage of people working from home has exponentially increased .

This project served as a conceptual model of a mixed use, live/work building. There is an open space and offices on the first two floors and then six one-bedroom residences above.

Project Requirements:

  • create cohesion between the two user groups

  • satisfy the program of 6 offices, 6 bedrooms, meeting room, and open collaboration space.

  • Meet code requirements for means of egress.

 

The project sits along Broadway Boulevard in Denver, Colorado. It responds to its site by orienting views West, and creating transparency on its main facade facing towards Broadway.

Sawtooth roof monitors face Southerly to allow even, diffused daylight into the space. during Summer months, and then allow heat and direct sunlight in during the winter months.

This was the first project in my college career that considered ADA requirements as well as code standards for staircases and egress.

Program

The building program consisted of six one-bedroom apartments, ten office spaces, a conference room, and an ample amount of open space for team collaboration.

This project was created through Rhino 6 and rendered in V-Ray, and was an individual assignment.
